In this alignment the Aura 1808 driver is thermal limited.
There is no Xmax / thermal crossover point.
This speaker just doesn't work in a sealed box alignment.
If you drop the Qtc to .500 the box volume rises to about 1 cu ft and even
then, 2kW input still doesn't cut it! Check out this speakers
Xmax/thermal Qtc=.500 plot.
Put this speakers in a 4 cu ft box, operate it below its ~80Hz resonance,
put a -12dB/octave LPF at 10Hz or a bass boost of +36dB at 10Hz and you
are ready to rock!
Or put it in a Qtc=.310 box
and do +24dB boost at 10Hz with a Q=2.0, this will flatten the frequency
response from 10Hz - 40Hz. The region from 40Hz+ will have a -6dB/octave
slope which could be all out of wack anyway with room modes. It will be
+12dB up at the F3 of 147Hz and this will cause some serious sub/sat blending
problems. Another option is +24dB boost at 20Hz with a Q=2.0 and bump up
10Hz with a +10dB boost, this would make things fairly flat from 10Hz to 160Hz.
What a piecemeal mess. Toss in room modes correction, consider the phase
mess that has just been created and it is debatable if this concoction is
superior to a vented alignment. You are probally better off using the driver
the way it was designed to be used!
